CHANNEL DECODING APPARATUS AND METHOD IN DIGITAL BROADCAST COMMUNICATION SYSTEM USING LOW-DENSITY PARITY-CHECK CODES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a channel decoding apparatus and method in a digital broadcast communication system.SOLUTION: The apparatus and method in a digital broadcast communication system using a low-density parity-check (LDPC) code comprises: determining predetermined shortening and puncturing patterns on the basis of a received signal; inserting as many zeros as the number of shortened bits and setting as many erasures as the number of punctured bits, according to position information on the bits to be shortened and punctured; and decoding the LDPC code when bits subjected to the shortening or puncturing exist.
