Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control apparatus for an internal combustion engine, which is applied to an ignition device where a zener diode 44 is connected in parallel to a spark plug 26, and which can appropriately determine that degradation occurs at the spark plug 26.SOLUTION: In an ignition device, a constant voltage path L3 whose one end is grounded is connected to a connection path L2 which connects a center electrode 26a of an spark plug 26 and a secondary coil 38b. The constant voltage path L3 includes a zener diode 44 and a resistor 45. Here, after power distribution to a primary coil 38a is started, in a period when power distribution to this coil is interrupted, in case it is determined that current is detected by the resistor 45, degradation determination processing for determining that the spark plug 26 degrades is performed.
