PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt type continuously variable transmission in which a gear ratio can be dynamically controlled while suppressing an increase in weight, volume or cost compared to a transmission using an actuator.SOLUTION: A belt type continuously variable transmission includes: a first pulley provided on an input shaft and having a first movable sheave and a first fixed sheave; a second pulley provided on an output shaft and having a second movable sheave and a second fixed sheave; a belt stretched over the first pulley and the second pulley; an elastic body that energizes the first movable sheave or the second movable sheave in an axial direction; a centrifugal weight that presses the first movable sheave or the second movable sheave in the axial direction in accordance with an angular velocity of the first pulley or of the second pulley; and a movement restricting mechanism that restricts movement of the first movable sheave or the second movable sheave in the axial direction in accordance with an externally input signal.
