Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reversible thermosensitive recording material which enables an image having a clear contrast to be formed thereon and erased therefrom and from which contaminants such as dust, oils and fats (including fingerprints etc.), and mud sticking during use under a practical use condition can be easily removed, and which can obtain an aptitude for printing, and has small change in a surface state due to repetition of printing and erasure and has excellent repetition durability.SOLUTION: There is provided a reversible thermosensitive recording material which includes: on a support, a reversible thermosensitive recording layer, containing a normally colorless or hypochromic dye precursor and a reversible developer creating a state of relative coloration and a state of decoloration according to difference in a heating temperature and/or a cooling speed after heating; and a protective layer on the reversible thermosensitive recording layer. The reversible thermosensitive recording material is characterized in that the protective layer contains planar metal stearate of 0.2-5 μm in diameter and 0.1 μm or less in thickness.
