Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric propulsion drive device for a ship, having higher cooling efficiency.SOLUTION: An electric propulsion drive device for a ship includes: a power conversion device 1 having a converter 11 for generating a DC link using an AC voltage as an input, a braking control circuit 14 connected to the DC link, and an inverter 13 for driving an AC motor 30 by converting the DC voltage of the DC link into AC voltage; a braking resistor 2 which consumes regenerative power generated when the ship is decelerated via a braking control circuit 14; a cooling device 3 for cooling the power device of the power conversion device 1 and the braking resistor 2 by circulating a refrigerant; a cooling pipe 4 arranged for circulating the refrigerant in the power conversion device 1 and the braking resistor 2; and a flow rate adjusting mechanism 6 for adjusting the ratio between the flow rate of the refrigerant flowing in the power conversion device 1 and the flow rate of the refrigerant flowing in the braking resistor 2. The flow rate adjusting mechanism 6 operates so that the refrigerant flows mainly on the side of the power conversion device 1 when the ship is propelled, and the refrigerant is also circulated on the side of the braking resistor 2 when the ship is decelerated.
