PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an accurate pseudo crank angle based on a pulse signal output from a cam angle sensor, when a crank angle sensor fails.SOLUTION: A control device for an internal combustion engine includes: a signal switching part 103 in which, when a fault diagnosis part 102 diagnoses a fault in a crank angle sensor 3, a pulse signal to be used for generating a pseudo crank angle is switched to pulse signals output from cam signal sensors 1, 2; and a noise determination part 104 which determines whether the pulse signals output from the cam angle sensors 1, 2 switched by the signal switching part 103 are noise. Thus, even if noise is mixed into pulse signals output from the cam angle sensors 1, 2, noise factors are removed from the pulse signals, thereby suppressing accuracy reduction in the generated pseudo crank angle.
