VARIABLE INTER-SYMBOL INTERFERENCE GENERATOR AND DATA SIGNAL GENERATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable continuous and accurate adjustment of the inter-symbol interference amount given to a data signal.SOLUTION: The amount of inter-symbol interference given to a data signal is continuously adjusted by passing the data signal through a programmable filter 1010 having an adjustable frequency response and through a fixed filter 1015 having a fixed frequency response such as a PCB trace, a fixed length of cable, and a discrete filter. The programmable filter 1010 can adjust its insertion gain or insertion loss by adjusting its parameters, and continuously vary and accurately adjust the inter-symbol interference amount by combination with one or more fixed filters.
