Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the possibility of secondary oxidation by residual free radicals which are to be precursors of oxidation-induced embrittlement of oxidation resistant cross-linked polymeric materials capable of significantly increasing the wear resistance of devices.SOLUTION: Methods for making oxidation resistant medical devices comprise polymeric materials, such as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). Methods of making medical implants with an antioxidant added thereto, for example, adding vitamin E to medical devices containing cross-linked UHMWPE by diffusion and annealing after adding, and materials used therein are provided.
