PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact information code reading device for notifying a user that an information code is protruding to the outside of a photographic window.SOLUTION: A standing-type information code reading device for reading an information code described in a recording medium includes: a photographic window 14a; photographing means for photographing an image in the photographic window; image determination means for detecting whether or not the information code is protruding from the photographic window in the image photographed by the photographing means; and lighting means disposed such that the periphery of the photographic window is surrounded, and configured to, when it is determined that the information code is protruding from the photographic window by the image determination means, light by a lighting method which is different in accordance with the direction in which the information code is protruding from the photographic window in the image.
