SLUG CRUSHER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a hindrance to drive force transmission from a drive means to a crusher roll caused by the influence of heat.SOLUTION: This slug crusher includes a slug hopper 13 inside a casing 11, a crusher roll 1 is rotatably provided below the slug hopper 13, fixed teeth 2 are provided laterally in an axis orthogonal direction of the crusher roll 1, a rotary shaft 5 of the crusher roll 1 is connected to an output shaft 8 of a drive means 7, drive force from the drive means 7 is transmitted to the rotary shaft 5 to rotate the crusher roll 1 around the axis, and slug having dropped from the slug hopper 13 enters between the crusher roll 1 and the fixed teeth 2, and is crushed. In the slug crusher, the rotary shaft 5 of the crusher roll 1 and the output shaft 8 of the drive means 7 are connected through a universal joint 20. Because having interposed the universal joint 20, the slug crusher can cope with a three-dimensional drastic displacement between the rotary shaft 5 of the crusher roll 1 and the output shaft 8 of the drive means 7, and a hindrance does not occur in the drive force transmission.
