Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing ethanol capable of reducing the initial use amount of a fermentation microorganism and further capable of achieving a stable reaction.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method for producing ethanol by a simultaneous saccharification and fermentation reaction wherein a cellulosic biomass is reacted simultaneously to a hydrolase and a yeast as a fermentation microorganism. The cellulosic biomass is put to the simultaneous saccharification and fermentation reaction together with an organic waste consisting of at least one from garbage, food waste, agricultural waste, livestock waste, sewage sludge, and organic sludge, wherein an initial addition dry weight of the yeast per each reaction tank is 0.125-0.0025g/kg.
