PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase processing speed in accessing a memory having multiple types of ECCs and save storage capacity.SOLUTION: If a write command of a first mode is issued, a first write unit generation portion generates write data as a first write unit by: pairing a first error correction code with data obtained by delimiting write data in units of a first size smaller than an access unit of a memory; and attaching mode information indicative of the first mode to each pair. If a write command of a second mode is issued, a second write unit generation portion generates write data as a second write unit by: delimiting, in units of a predetermined size, a pair of a second error correction code and data obtained by delimiting write data in units of a second size larger than the access unit of the memory; and attaching the mode information indicative of the second mode to each delimited pair. A write processing portion writes to the memory with the first write unit as the access unit in the first mode and with the second write unit as the access unit in the second mode.
