Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy of meander correction of an intermediate transfer belt during an image nonformation period.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 comprises a plurality of photoreceptors 31A-31D, an intermediate transfer belt 41, a disjunctive mechanism part 20, a tension roller 44, a meander correction mechanism part, and a control part. The disjunctive mechanism part 20 displaces the intermediate transfer belt 41. The meander correction mechanism part respectively increases or decreases energizing force applied to both ends of the tension roller 44 according to a transfer quantity of the intermediate transfer belt 41 along an axis direction 94 of the tension roller 44. The control part executes belt displacement processing in which the intermediate transfer belt 41 is returned to a predetermined reference position after having been displaced from the predetermined reference position, at a predetermined timing during an image nonformation period and during rotation of the intermediate transfer belt 41.
