Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for synthesizing ligand component parts of hafnium complexes, which are used as a component of an olefin polymerization catalyst and has improved solubility in aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents.SOLUTION: A method for the selective bromination of a 2-(Calkyl)-benzofuran to form 3-bromo-2-alkylbenzofuran in high purity, the process comprising: a step of contacting a 2-(Calkyl)-benzofuran with less than 1.2 equivalents of bromine in a non-halogenated, polar, aprotic solvent at a temperature greater than -5°C; and a step of recovering the brominated reaction product.
