Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device having little adverse effect on the surroundings due to frictional heat and having a friction plate extended in service life even when the attitude of the brake device changes.SOLUTION: A brake device 1 includes a rotary shaft 3. The rotary shaft 3 is provided with a friction plate 5 whose movement in the circumferential direction with respect to the rotary shaft is regulated and which can be moved in an axial direction. A braking plate 7 and an armature 6 are arranged at both sides in the axial direction of the friction plate 5. The armature 6 is energized by a spring member 9 to press the friction plate 5 to the braking plate 7 and is separated from the friction plate 5 when applying a current to a coil 11. The brake device 1 includes a pair of regulating members 21, 22, wherein the pair of regulating members 21, 22 is disposed at both sides in the axial direction of the friction plate 5, and when the armature 6 is separated from the friction plate 5, the regulating members regulate axial movement of the friction plate 5 so as to prevent the friction plate 5 from hitting against the armature 6 and the braking plate 7.
