PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader where fluctuation does not occur in a distance between contact glass and reading means even if warpage occurs in a body frame for movably supporting reading means.SOLUTION: Contact glass 225 on which an original is placed is supported by a front support section 508 and a rear support section 509, which protrude from both ends in a main scanning direction of a bottom plate 505 of a housing 500. A pair of support projections 804 which are protrusively formed from both ends in a cross direction of a support plate 801 abut on a part of the bottom plate 505. Thus, the position in a vertical direction of a CIS unit 80 is regulated. In addition, an engaging section 805 projected from a center of the support plate 801 is engaged with a guide section 70 projected from the bottom plate 505. Thus, the position in the cross direction of the CIS unit 80 is regulated.
