Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a start control device of a compression self-ignition type engine that increases the opportunity of a rapid engine restart by one compression starting, in an AT vehicle where the rotation decrease after fuel cut is relatively fast.SOLUTION: In a process of automatically stopping the engine, before a predetermined time passes from the point when an automatic stop condition is established, an ECU 50 makes the opening of an intake throttle valve 30 disposed in an intake passage 28 smaller than the opening before the automatic stop condition is established. The ECU 50 stops fuel injection from a fuel injection valve 15 after the predetermined time passes. After the fuel injection is stopped, the ECU 50 increases the opening of the intake throttle valve 15 near the top dead center next before the last top dead center of all cylinders before the engine stops.
