PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device capable of preventing the correction performance in an inclined state from lowering even if the inertia of a roll is considerably large.SOLUTION: This recording device includes a conveyor roller 11 which holds a recording medium 3 extracted from the roll 20 in association with a pinch roller 12 and conveys the recording medium 3 by rotating to rotate the roll 20 in a first direction, and a torque generating mechanism 21 which eliminates the looseness of the recording medium 3 between the roll 20 and the conveyor roller 11 by applying a torque to the roll 20 in a second direction. The recording device further includes a roll peripheral velocity detection sensor 22 for detecting the peripheral velocity of the roll 20, and a control unit which determines whether the recording medium 3 between the roll 20 and the conveyor roller 11 is loosened or not based on the peripheral velocity of the roll 20 detected by the roll peripheral velocity detection sensor 22, and when determining that the recording medium 3 is not loosened, accelerates the conveyance of the recording medium 3 by the conveyor roller 11.
