DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETECTING OPTICAL FIBER MARKS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber mark detector which enables in-line detection of marks on optical fiber element wires.SOLUTION: An optical fiber mark detector for detecting marks (M) attached to optical fiber element wires includes: a light emitter (11a) for emitting laser light (LS1); a light receiver (11b) for receiving laser light (LS2); a detector (11) for outputting a signal corresponding to the intensity of the laser light (LS2) received by the light receiver (11b); and an element wire guide member (12) provided with a grooved section (12a) having a bottom surface (12a) for reflecting laser light. The detector (11) is positioned to face the element wire guide member (12) with an element wire (21) resting on the bottom surface (12b) of the grooved section (12a) of the element wire guide member (12) in between, such that at least the element wire (21) is irradiated with the laser light (LS1) from the light emitter (11a).
