Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for determining the dimensions of a defect in a component.SOLUTION: A linear array of an acoustic transducer is used to propagate a converged ultrasonic beam along a first focal line. The converged ultrasonic beam is caused to move in a first array direction substantially perpendicular to the first focal line, while crossing a defect. The dimensions of the defect are determined from one reflection or more of the converged ultrasonic beam from the defect when causing the converged ultrasonic beam to move while crossing the defect.
