PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve that can be made compact so as to be usable as a portion (component) of a wireline/downhole tool, or the like.SOLUTION: A valve 10 includes a piston 16 and a valve body 12 having a piston hole 18 for accommodating the piston 16. The valve body 12 is provided with: a plurality of channels 20 that extend along the axial direction of the piston 16 and have openings 14; and a plurality of communicating passages 22 that respectively communicate with the channels 20 and communicate with the piston hole 18 at positions 24 different from one another in the axial direction. The piston 16 is provided with sealing members 28, 30, which seal between the piston 16 and the piston hole 18 and are arranged at an interval corresponding to the spacing of communicating portions of the piston hole 18 with the plurality of communicating passages 22. A gap is formed between the piston hole 18 and an outer surface of a portion 34 of the piston 16 between the sealing members 28, 30.
