Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for a waste battery capable of effectively recycling a battery component by suppressing contamination of other battery component that is caused by elution of a negative electrode collector or the like and degradation of the battery component including an electrode active material, relating to a discharge process of a waste battery before decomposition.SOLUTION: In a waste battery processing method, a voltage between a positive electrode and a negative electrode of a waste battery is controlled so that a negative electrode potential is lower than an elution potential of a collector contained in the negative electrode and/or a metal part connected electrically to the negative electrode, for discharging a part of or the entire remaining electric power in the waste battery. Since a battery component is less degraded, which includes an electrode active material recovered from a decomposed battery, it can be recycled as a battery component for a new battery.
