Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is difficult to obtain both high sensitivity and a wide bandwidth by a method using a nonlinear crystal that a terahertz wave detector can use over a wide wavelength range.SOLUTION: A terahertz wave element includes waveguides (2, 4, and 5) including an electrooptic crystal and propagating light, and a coupling member (7) which makes a terahertz wave incident on the waveguides (2, 4, and 5). The propagation state of the light propagated in the waveguides (2, 4, and 5) changes as the terahertz wave is made incident on the waveguides (2, 4, and 5).
