PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage a file in a trash box in order to safely delete a file with a simple operation from the trash box by managing the significance of a file temporarily stored in the trash box.SOLUTION: The file management device includes: storage means for storing significance determination information for determining the significance of a file from the type of the file; significance determination means for determining the significance of a file to be deleted in accordance with the significance determination information; significance change confirmation means for confirming whether or not the significance of the file determined by the significance determination means has been changed; significance change means for, when it is determined that the significance of the file has been changed by the significance change confirmation means, changing the significance of the file determined by the significance determination means; and state change means for setting the file stored in a deletion object storage area in a restorable state to an unrestorable state in accordance with the significance of the file.
