Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reading apparatus capable of enhancing operational efficiency of update work of a program, firmware and the like.SOLUTION: A bar code handy terminal has a battery pack, and update is executed on the assumption that the power feeding voltage of the battery pack is higher than a predetermined voltage value, and the bar code handy terminal is positioned in a cradle. When a preset time (typically midnight) comes, a check for version upgrade is performed (S32) and subsequently the update is executed.
