PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sign device that can be arranged at a tapered place of traffic restriction or a traffic accident occurrence place so that an upstream-side traveling vehicle is gently guided to a desired lane speedily and safely.SOLUTION: The sign device includes a warming indication surface 3 for traveling vehicles, driving wheels 2, driving means 11 for the driving wheels 2, and control means 12 of controlling the operation of the driving means 11 on the basis of relative position data on a reference sign 4 placed at a base point, and travels by itself to a predetermined position under the control of the driving means 11 controlled by the control means 12. The reference sign 4 is placed at both end positions of an installation section, a sensor 13 is connected to the control means 12, and the control means 12 may be configured to obtain relative position data on the basis of detection data of the sensor 13. Further, the control means 12 may be configured to obtain the relative position data for the reference sign on the basis of a sound wave or electric wave transmitted from the reference sign 4 or absolute position data obtained from a GPS receiver.
