Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst capable of delaying generation of HC poisoning on a surface of a noble metal catalyst in the exhaust gas purification catalyst and delaying reduction of NOx purification rate, and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: The exhaust gas purification catalyst 1 including a honeycomb body substrate 10 which carries oxygen storage material 160 and the noble metal catalysts 154, 155, and a method for manufacturing the same, are provided. Inside a pore 110 of a cell wall 11 of the honeycomb body substrate 10, a noble metal free area 16 which does not substantially contains the noble metal catalysts 154, 155 and is filled with the oxygen storage material is formed. A surface 115 of the cell wall 11 is formed with a catalyst layer 15 which carries the noble metal catalyst 154, 155 and the oxygen storage material 160. For manufacturing the exhaust gas purification catalyst, first, the honeycomb body substrate is immersed in slurry in liquid of which the oxygen storage material is dispersed, and is calcined. After the calcination, the honeycomb body substrate is immersed in the slurry in the liquid of which the oxygen storage material and the noble metal catalyst are dispersed, and is baked.
