Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing data from being leaked by neglecting removal of a storage medium even if user authentification is not performed.SOLUTION: A multifunction copier 1 as the image forming apparatus is made usable without requiring a login with user authentification. The multifunction copier 1 comprises: a USB port 21 into which a USB memory 2 is loaded; a data storage unit 17 for storing data which is read from the USB memory 2 loaded into the USB port 21; and a CPU 11 that, when the USB memory 2 is loaded into the USB port 21, reserves, in the data storage unit 17, a storage area in which data stored in the USB memory 2 is to be stored, and performs control on whether to protect the data which is stored in the storage area, depending on the presence or absence of a password.
