Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member for fixing a plate to be read, which is capable of effectively protecting a plate to be read when attaching and fixing the plate to be read to a revolving shaft, and to provide an assembly for fixing a plate to be read, a signal detection device, and a rotary encoder.SOLUTION: For example, when a plate 40 to be read is attached and fixed to a revolving shaft 10, a member 30 for fixing a plate to be read is used which is engaged with the revolving shaft 10 to fix the plate 40 to be read to the revolving shaft 10 and has an outer shape equal to or larger than that of the plate 40 to be read. Therefore, fingertips or the like of a worker can be effectively prevented from coming into contact with the plate 40 to be read, and the plate 40 to be read is effectively protected even after the plate 40 to be read is attached and fixed.
