PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a money receiving machine capable of providing a service at a low recovery cost even when a received money amount of coins or bills is extremely large, and a cassette exchange method.SOLUTION: The money receiving machine includes: a storage part having a bill storage cassette for storing received bills and a coin storage cassette for storing received coins; a lock part for locking and unlocking the bill storage cassette or the coin storage cassette; a counter for counting the bills or the coins stored in the bill storage cassette or the coin storage cassette; and a control part for unlocking the bill storage cassette or the coin storage cassette storing the storable number of bills or coins, which is locked by the lock part, and clearing counting by the counter, in the case that the storable number of bills or coins are stored in the bill storage cassette or the coin storage cassette and the bills or the coins are to be recovered.
