Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of correcting the color shift in the main scanning direction while suppressing the disorder of an image to be formed.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a light emitting element head having light emitting chips C1, C2, ... including a first light emitting element group arranged in a row in the main scanning direction, a second light emitting element group at least a portion of which is overlapped with the first light emitting element group in the sub-scanning direction and which is arranged, in the overlapping part, at a larger interval than the interval of the light emitting elements belonging to the first light emitting element group, and a third light emitting element group at least a portion of which is overlapped with the first light emitting element group in the sub-scanning direction and which is arranged, in the overlapping part, at a smaller interval than the interval of the light emitting elements belonging to the first light emitting element group; and a rod lens array which images the optical output of the light emitting elements to expose a photoreceptor drum to form an electrostatic latent image.
