Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forging press device whose falling and rising speeds are quick and a method for controlling the same.SOLUTION: The forging press device includes: a drive shaft ES that moves up and down a slide S; a flywheel 30 connecting with the drive shaft ES; and a servomotor 40 connecting with the drive shaft ES. In the rising process and/or falling process, the drive of the flywheel 30 rotates the drive shaft ES and controls the slide S to rise and/or fall. As the drive of the flywheel 30, whose generated torque is large, raises and/or falls the slide S, it does not take time to accelerate the drive shaft ES to a purposed rotation speed even though the inertial mass of a follower system is large. As a result, the rising speed and falling speed can be fast.
