REFLECTION TYPE SCREEN, AND PROJECTION IMAGE DISPLAY SYSTEM USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type screen which reduces contrast reduction due to the reflection of external light, and suppresses the degradation of gain.SOLUTION: A reflection type screen 1 is equipped with a resin sheet 2; light absorbing layers 4; and light reflecting layers 5. The resin sheet 2 has translucency, and stripe-shaped projecting portions 3 are periodically formed on one side of a main plane surface with the width of a period P. The light reflecting layers 5 are disposed on the other side of the main plane surface, and have scattering reflection characteristics. The light absorbing layers 4 are disposed alternately with the light reflecting layer 5 and oppositely to the projecting portions 3, so as to be parallel with the shape of the stripe of the projecting portions 3. In the projecting portion 3, a cross-sectional shape orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the projecting portion 3 is made from a part of an oval, and a long axis of the oval tilts in regard to a normal direction of the main plane surface. A set of the light absorbing layer 4 and the light reflecting layer 5 is disposed with the same width of the period P in which the projecting portion 3 is formed.
