Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an integrally bladed rotor.SOLUTION: A system for manufacturing the integrally bladed rotor includes: a ring component 20; and airfoil components; and inertia welding means. The integrally bladed rotor includes: the ring component 20 which further includes at least one metal matrix composite and a continuous radially outwardly facing blade conical surface; and the airfoil component, wherein the at least one airfoil component has been created from a single, unitary piece of material and further includes a plurality of individual airfoil blades 12 and a continuous radially inwardly facing blade conical surface. Here, the ring component 20 and the airfoil component have been frictionally engaged to effect an inertia weld therebetween along the conical surfaces, under an axially applied welding load.
