Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium for high density recording, the medium having excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics.SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium has a nonmagnetic layer containing a nonmagnetic powder and a binder, and a magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic powder and a binder, in this order on a nonmagnetic support body. The magnetic layer further contains a compound expressed by general formula A. In general formula A, Ar represents an aryl group optionally having a substituent; X represents a divalent connecting group; and Rand Reach independently represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent. The ferromagnetic powder is a hexagonal ferrite powder. The binder in the magnetic layer is a mixture of a vinyl chloride copolymer, a polyurethane resin and polyisocyanate. The polyurethane resin has a glass transition temperature in the range from 90 to 130°C and a storage modulus of 2.5 to 5.0 GPa at 80°C. The nonmagnetic layer is a radiation cured layer obtained by curing a radiation curable composition containing a nonmagnetic powder and a binder component with radiation. The binder component comprises a radiation-curable vinyl chloride copolymer and a radiation-curable polyurethane resin. Both of the radiation-curable vinyl chloride copolymer and the radiation-curable polyurethane resin have a glass transition temperature in the range from 30 to 100°C. |
