Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of aerosol mist by a wetting liquid emerging from the side of a material web oriented away from an application roller when wetting the material web with the application roller.SOLUTION: An apparatus for wetting the material web with a liquid has guide rollers 6 to guide the material web 2, a descending roller, and an application roller 5 to apply the liquid to the material web 2, and allows the material web 2 to pass through the apparatus in a travel direction L, wherein a film 4 is provided to serve as a spray guard which rests directly against the material web 2 on the other side from the application roller 5.
