Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material and a coating method for a fuel battery separator, reduced in energy required for coating and simplified in coating process.SOLUTION: A coating material 1 coated on a coated surface of a fuel battery separator includes: a main raw material 2 and a solvent 3; an organic binder 6 cured by heating at least at low-temperature drying temperature to be fastened to the coated surface; and an inorganic binder 5 which is deposited to the coated surface of the separator when heated at temperatures in a second high-temperature range and forms a coating layer. After the separator has been assembled in a fuel battery cell stack, the organic binder 6 fastened on the coated surface of the separator is heated at temperatures in a first high-temperature range to be gasified, and further, by heating at temperatures in the second high-temperature range, the inorganic binder 5 can be deposited on the coated surface of the separator.
