FADE TYPE DETERMINATION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fade type determination device for determining a type of fade, which is included in a moving picture before encoding, at high speed.SOLUTION: A fade state determination section 5 determines that a target picture is in a fade state when a feature amount A is equal to or more than a threshold TH_A. When the target picture is determined to be in the fade state, a fade-in determination section 6 determines that the target picture is in a fade-in state when a feature amount B is equal to or more than a threshold TH_B1 and a feature amount C is less than a threshold TH_C. When the target picture is determined to be in the fade state, a fade-out determination section 7 determines that the target picture is in a fade-out state if the feature amount B is less than a threshold TH_B2 smaller than the threshold TH_B1. When the target picture is determined to be in the fade state and is determined to be not in the fade-in state and the fade-out state, a cross-fade determination section 8 determines that the target picture is in a cross-fade state.
