Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article transfer device that prevents an excessive holding force from being applied to an article to be held, and accurately holds the article for a long time.SOLUTION: The article transfer device includes: a mast that is movably stood in an almost horizontal direction; a lifting table 6 that is supported so as to be liftable along the mast; a lifting device that lifts the lifting table 6; and a pair of forks 10 that are provided on the lifting table 6, extendable oppositely to storage racks which are arranged in parallel, move in a horizontal direction perpendicular to the opposite direction, and hold the article W. The article transfer device also includes a control means 14 which controls the holding force for holding the article W by controlling a current value of a first electric motor 11d for making the pair of forks 10 move horizontally.
