Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure capable of preventing a spacer glass from being broken due to expansion and contraction of metal foil sheets, preventing wrinkles from occurring in the metal foil sheets, and further avoiding the metal foil sheets from lifting in a sealing part, in a long arc type discharge lamp which has the sealing part formed at each of the ends of a light-emitting tube by shrink seal and the metal foil sheets on both surfaces of the spacer glass in the sealing part, and which is formed by joining the metal foil sheets to an electrode.SOLUTION: When the width of the metal foil sheet is W (mm), the thickness thereof is Th (mm), and the thickness of the spacer glass is Tg (mm), relationships of 114≤W/Th≤444, and W×Tg≤13.6 are satisfied.
