Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a breaker cushion, capable of concurrently achieving low fuel consumption performance and fracture performance at the high level, and to provide a pneumatic tire having a breaker cushion produced using the rubber composition.SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a breaker cushion includes: a modified natural rubber with a phosphorus content of ≤200 ppm; and a compound represented by formula (1). In the rubber composition, a content of the modified natural rubber is ≥5 mass% relative to 100 mass% of a rubber component, and a content of the compound represented by formula (1) is 0.1-5 pts.mass relative to 100 pts.mass of the rubber component. In the formula (1): A is a 2-10C alkylene group; and Rand Rare the same or different and each represent a monovalent organic group containing a nitrogen atom.
