PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device attaining uniform plane illumination with a fluorescent tube and dead bodies of insects or the like free from being visually recognized from the lower side, even if it is made thin in size.SOLUTION: The lighting device 1 has a light source 4 and an illumination cover 2 arranged to cover the light source 4, and the illumination cover 2 has a frame 5, a first light diffusion member 6 and a second light diffusion member 7. The frame 5 has an opening 5a for passing through light emitted from the light source 4, and the end part at a light source 4 side of the opening 5a and the other end part at the opposite side are respectively covered with the first light diffusion member 6 and the second light diffusion member 7. The first and the second light diffusion members 6, 7 are made of a glass fiber sheet, with a total light transmittance of the first light diffusion member 6 of 80% or more and a haze value of 70% or more, and a total light transmittance of the second light diffusion member 7 of 40% or more and a haze value of 80% or more. A sealed space is formed with the frame 5, the first light diffusion member 6, and the second light diffusion member 7.
