Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a display image with bright colors and high contrast.SOLUTION: A light-emitting device 10 includes: a plurality of light emitting sections 7 at least one of which is arranged for each of a plurality of division portions where an optical modulation section 3 for modulating illumination light on the basis of image data to display images is divided and emits illumination light to be irradiated on the optical modulation section 3; a color saturation determination section 4 with a luminance estimation function for determining color saturation of a portion corresponding to the division portion of the images shown by the image data and estimating the luminance of the portion for every division portion; and a light emitting control data generation section 5 for controlling the luminance of the light emitting section 7 corresponding to the division portion on the basis of the color saturation determination result and the luminance estimation result for every division portion.
