BREAKWATER STRUCTURE AND UNDERTOW REINFORCING MECHANISM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breakwater structure capable of increasing the destruction resistance of a breakwater against an undertow when tsunami occur, and an undertow reinforcing mechanism for the same.SOLUTION: The breakwater structure is constructed with a plurality of caissons KS arranged side by side. It includes undertow reinforcing mechanisms 10 each of which has a stopper member 11 arranged on a front face F of the caisson outside a harbor, a counter member 12 installed on the back side of the caisson inside the harbor, and a connection member 13 arranged in a gap between the caissons for connecting the stopper member and the counter member. The undertow reinforcing mechanisms give resistances to the caissons against undertow wave power when the undertow wave power operates on the back faces of the caissons.
