Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the restrained quenching method of a workpiece and a restrained quenching device capable of further improving dimensional stability of the workpiece cooled to the quenching temperature while the workpiece is straightened in a restrained manner.SOLUTION: The restrained quenching device includes: a first cooling unit 1 which cools an annular steel-made workpiece W to the straightening start temperature higher than the martensitic transformation start temperature (Ms point); a second cooling unit 2 which has a first straightening part 10 to straighten the workpiece W cooled to the straightening start temperature while restraining at least its outside diameter in the radial direction, and cools the workpiece to the quenching temperature while straightening the workpiece by the first straightening part 10; and a third cooling unit 3 which has a second straightening part 20 to straighten the workpiece W cooled to the quenching temperature while restraining at least its outside diameter in the radial direction, and advances the martensitic transformation by cooling the workpiece to the temperature lower than the quenching temperature while straightening the workpiece by the second straightening part 20.
