RECORDING DEVICE AND RECORDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device capable of increasing the information recording density in a recording plane direction like mark edge recording and achieving a large recording capacity by increasing the number of recording planes in a depth direction.SOLUTION: The recording device includes a recording section that performs blank mark recording by selectively focusing a laser beam to points located at each different depth in the recording layer on a bulk type optical recording medium on which marks are recorded at plural points in a depth direction in a bulk-like recording layer. Also, the recording device includes a control section that controls the recording section to record blank marks at a first depth position and a second depth position in the recording layer so that the spaces among the marks in the depth direction and the plane direction allow reproduction with a multiplexed laser beam.
