Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that can improve the display mode efficiency even when an electrode is installed inside a liquid crystal layer.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device comprises a second substrate having scan signal lines and video signal lines, and a first substrate disposed to face the second substrate. Pixel regions surrounded by the scan signal lines and the video signal lines are arranged in matrix. The liquid crystal display device further comprises: a first electrode including a convex body formed at a pixel boundary and protruding from a liquid crystal plane side of the second substrate, a side-wall plane electrode formed on a side-wall plane of the convex body, and a lower-end side electrode extending from a bottom plane side of the side-wall plane electrode; and a second electrode including a first linear electrode formed in the pixel region, and a second linear electrode formed on the second substrate side and facing the first linear electrode. The pixel regions include a first pixel region in which the first electrode and the second electrode extend in a first direction, and a second pixel region in which the first electrode and the second electrode extend in a second direction.
