Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection circuit for a switching element that allows a nitride FET to perform a high-speed switching operation and allows protecting the nitride FET from a surge voltage.SOLUTION: A protection circuit for a switching element includes: a high-side element M1 and a low-side element M2 that are connected in series to each other; a high-side pre-driver 11 that outputs a signal turning on/off the high-side element; a low-side pre-driver 12 that outputs a signal turning on/off the low-side element so as to become the opposite on/off state to the high-side element; a switching element Tr1 that has a control terminal connected to the connection point between the high-side element and the low-side element; a diode D1 that has a cathode connected to one terminal of the switching element; and a controller 21 that has an input terminal connected to an anode of the diode, supplies a current to the control terminal of the switching element at the time of breaking of the diode, and supplies a signal directing off of the low-side element to the low-side pre-driver.
