Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition device for an internal combustion engine capable of restraining a probabilistic fluctuation on a stretching effect of a discharge arc and attaining stable combustion in an internal combustion engine aiming stabilization of combustion by stretching the discharge arc while acting an air current generated in a cylinder on the discharge arc generated at the time of applying high voltage between a center electrode and a ground electrode.SOLUTION: As a discharge arc stretching determination means for determining whether or not the discharge arc 13 is actually stretched, the ignition device for an internal combustion engine includes magnetic field generation means MG, MGto calculate a voltage fluctuation rate V (kV/ms) from discharge voltage VIG during a designated period (0.05 ms) and to generate a magnetic field in order to assist stretching of the discharge arc 13 owing to an air current TMB in a cylinder by making the magnetic field act on the discharge arc 13 when it is determined that the discharge arc 13 is not stretched by comparison with a designated threshold V. |
