Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle compact hydrogen generation apparatus capable of obtaining a large amount of hydrogen by loading a large amount of hydrocarbon in a low-pressure container, and by heating and decomposing the hydrocarbon at a low temperature on a vehicle.SOLUTION: In this on-vehicle compact hydrogen production apparatus, a large amount of hydrogen not containing CO can be produced continuously by pyrolyzing acetylene which is a loadable hydrocarbon in large quantities even at a low pressure such as 12 atmospheres, at 350-900°C by using copper or a copper alloy as a catalyst.
